Meet Coach Jacob — The Mind Behind Common Sense Fitness

Coach Jacob is a Believer, Husband, Dog Dad, Attorney at Law, and Professional Fitness Coach dedicated to helping others achieve their goals—both in and out of the gym.

His fitness journey began at 15 years old, lifting weights at his local community center. Over the next decade, through trial and error, self-conducted research, discussions with industry leaders, and hands-on coaching experience, he developed an astute, simple, and effective training system based on common sense principles.

Despite balancing a demanding academic career—studying Psychology & Neuroscience from Santa Clara University (and graduating summa cum laude) and later graduating magna cum laude in the top 5% of his class from the University of San Diego School of Law—Coach Jacob never sacrificed his fitness. Whether studying late nights, training around a full-time workload, or passing the California Bar Exam while getting married in the same summer, he proved that staying in shape doesn’t require endless hours in the gym—just the right approach.

One thing always stood out to him: he would see the same people in the gym every day, spending hours on workouts that weren’t delivering results. Meanwhile, he trained just a few days a week, for less than an hour each session, and achieved significantly better results. This realization led to the creation of his guide, Fitness in Plain English—a no-nonsense approach that breaks down biomechanics and nutrition into clear, actionable steps that anyone can understand and apply.

Beyond fitness, Coach Jacob sees the bigger picture—the same principles that drive success in training (commitment, patience, discipline, and consistency) are what have helped him excel in law, business, and life. Whether he's counseling clients in litigation or coaching them to become the best versions of themselves, his mission remains the same: to help others achieve life-changing results in a fraction of the time it takes most people.
